Upinde ROOTS was started in 2008 when a group of East Bay residents got together to provide low-income residents with a way to grow their own healthy organic food as a means to develop economic self-sufficiency. Since that time we have evolved into a social enterprise partnering with the EarthBox Company to bring micro-farming to individuals and families, churches, youth, seniors and the disabled.

2) Educate and empower individuals, neighborhoods and businesses to grow, sell and barter produce – thereby growing the local economy.

3) Provide entrepreneurial training to create self-sustainable urban farms through our partnership with the Urban FIRE program.
